Ohio Department of Insurance launches new office to address insurance parity complaints

The Ohio Mental Health Insurance Assistance Office (MHIA) is the state's official resource to help patients, consumers, mental health advocates, behavioral health providers, employers, first responders and other stakeholders understand and navigate mental health and substance use disorder insurance so Ohioans get access to the treatment they need.

MHIA is an office within the Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI), the state's insurance regulator, and it partners with RecoveryOhio, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Ohio Department of Medicaid, the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, and the U.S. Department of Labor, to address various insurance related complaints and questions. ODI has also developed several on-line resources for Providers to use to file complaints, learn more about Parity, and share with patients.
